Rolled Cabbage

Ingredients, serves 4

  • 1 savoy cabbage
  • 500 g minced meat
  • 1 egg
  • salt, pepper, marjoram
  • 1/8 l bouillon
  • 50 g salted and smoked meat in small stripes

for the tomato sauce

  • 1/2 small onion
  • 200 g strained tomatoes
  • salt, pepper, pinch sugar
  • 1 tablespoon oil

Preparation

Wash cabbage, separate the leaves, cut flat the strong ribs in the middle, put them into boiling water and let them get softer for about 5 minutes, remove from pot, rinse in cold water and drain.

Now mix minced meat, eggs, herbs and condiment, cover the leaves with the mixture and roll them to small parcels. Cut the remaining parts of the cabbage into strips and put them into an oven dish together with the rolled cabbage. Add some bouillon and sprinkle with the smoked meat.

Let bake in the preheated oven at 200°C for about 30 min.

For the tomato sauce heat oil, saute chopped onions, add the strained tomatoes and condiment and let boil at low heat for about 10 minutes.

Serve the rolled cabbage on a bed of tomato sauce with cooked potatoes.
